Animal Memorial Service
Animal Memorial Service provides compassionate, caring, and comprehensive afterlife information and services. They are the first pet cremation facility in Northern California to provide water-based cremation, a more environmentally friendly process.
Animal Poison Control
If you suspect that your pet has ingested a potentially poisonous substance, the ASPCA’s Animal Poison Control site lists a 24-hour information hotline which, for a fee, can tell you whether or not your pet needs to be taken to a hospital. A tremendous amount of free information is also available on this site.
Diabetes: Canine and Feline
This Merck Animal Health site provides information on canine and feline diabetes and advice on insulin treatment, plus links to other websites with information about diabetes in pets.
Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter
As of January 1, 2012, the nonprofit group Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter (FAAS) is managing the animal shelter in the City of Alameda. Visit their site for up-to-date information, and please consider making a donation while you’re there—it’s easy to do!
Pet Health Library
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) site offers pet owners a comprehensive collection of articles about pets and pet health, including caring for pets during emergencies, such as floods, earthquakes, and chemical spills.
Pet Healthcare Credit Card Application
The CareCredit credit card provides financing for animal veterinary procedures, allowing pet owners to obtain the care their pets need and have monthly payments that fit their budget.
Pet Poison Helpline
The Pet Poison Helpline site offers 24/7 access to experts in pet poisonings via a toll-free phone number and will, for a fee, advise both pet owners and veterinarians. Free information is also available on the site, including guidelines on what to do if your pet has ingested a toxic substance.
Pet Travel: International and Interstate
The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service provides specific animal health requirements for international travel—both to a foreign country and from a foreign country—plus traveling with your pet from state to state.
Sirius Dog Training
Veterinarian and animal behaviorist Ian Dunbar’s training organization provides information on classes for both puppies and adult dogs in addition to downloadable articles on special topics and behavior problems.
